Volunteer Support & Recovery

VFBV supports CFA volunteers who have been impacted by large bushfires and helps those that have lost their homes, fencing, machinery, stock, equipment and/or livelihoods.

The VFBV Volunteer Support & Recovery Trust Fund (formerly Black Saturday Recovery Trust Fund) was established in 2009 following the Black Saturday fires.

The Fund was created by CFA volunteers to support volunteers.

Donations promise

Helping the helpers

It is a sad reality that while volunteers are often out responding to emergencies during these large scale events helping others, they often find their own homes and properties are impacted.

The Volunteer Support and Recovery Trust helps those CFA volunteers who are impacted by the very emergencies that they are protecting the community from. Grants help them get back on their feet and continue volunteering with their local brigade.

We are currently supporting CFA volunteers impacted by the 2026 Victorian bushfires

As at 1st February 2026, more than 20 CFA volunteers have completely lost their homes and contents from the recent bushfires, with the majority of those on fire trucks or on the fireground helping others when their own homes were lost.
