Donations

Donations support CFA volunteers who have been impacted by large bushfires and helps those that have lost their homes, fencing, machinery, stock, equipment and/or livelihoods.

We have two different donation mechanisms for people to choose from when donating. At this time, our preference is that donations are made to the VFBV Volunteer Support and Recovery Trust.

Members of the public are invited to donate to one of the following funds:

VFBV Volunteer Support & Recovery Trust

The VFBV Volunteer Support and Recovery Trust was established to respond to significant natural disasters such as floods, storms and bushfires impacting on CFA volunteers, and is receiving donations to support CFA volunteers who have been directly impacted by the 2026 Bushfires.

In previous years, the fund has provided grants for the re-establishment of primary residences; high impact support grants to assist with repairs to damaged residences, outbuildings, machinery and signifciant livestock, feed or fencing losses; general grants to assist with more minor repairs; and emergency relief grants to support volunteers with food, clothing and other minor expenses immedietely following the disaster.

This fund is only activated during large scale emergencies, and covers all CFA volunteers. It does not keep large reserves, and money raised goes directly to those CFA volunteers requiring support and assistance who have been afgfacted by the disaster.

Following its creation on Black Saturday, it has awarded over $1.4M in grants to CFA volunteers.

VFBV covers all administration fees, and 100% of funds received are used for the payment of volunteer grants.

Donations above $2 are tax deductable.

VFBV
Welfare Fund

The VFBV Welfare Fund is a members only capital fund, and was first established in 1913. Over the years, the Fund has helped more than 1,400 volunteers, with more than $3 million in grants, and today more than 1,100 CFA Brigades subscribe to the Fund each year.

Brigades choose each year whether or not they would like to be members of the fund by paying an annual subscription which then covers all their members, families and long serving ex-members. In 2024/25 93% of all CFA brigades across the State choose to be covered.

This capital fund offers small grants (up to $5,000) to CFA volunteers, long serving former volunteers and their families, who are experiencing significant financial hardship.  Typical cases involve prolonged illness, bereavement, loss of earnings, or the accommodation and travel costs associated with supporting a relative in hospital.

As a capital fund - all donations are invested, with investment income and subscription fees used to fund grants. It is managed to provide an enduring capital base that has existed since 1913 and ensures volunteers now and in the future are protected by fund income that outperforms inflation and minimises annual brigade subscriptions for each member brigade now and for the future.

VFBV covers all administration fees, and 100% of funds received are used for the payment of volunteer grants.

For larger donations, and to avoid processing fees being deducated from your donation, we recommend Direct Deposit using the bank account details below. Please just email vfbv@vfbv.com.au with a request for a receipt.
